Weird light problem

by caeochr » Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:44 am

When someone is in the shower there is a big bang coming from the lighting when it is off. When the light is on and someone is in the shower it goes bang and it trips the trip switch in the house.
It is a ordinary rose light with a cord switch.
Please can anyone help?
Thanks

Not a DIY problem although we may guess and work it out in mean time some one could end up with nasty shock or fire. You really need to get someone in to look at this.

Get in an electrician , to inspect and test lighting circuit first
then go from there.

If the lights trips out when using the shower the shower itself maybe wired into a lighting circuit. a lighting circuit is rated to 10amps so will trip if something like a shower is connected to same circuit.
This is bad news and could result in fire.
A shower should have its own circuit to the fuse board. run in 10mm cable and protected with a 30amp rcbo.
I cant imagine an electrician doing such a bad job as this so also check if when shower is running that there is no leaks.
Water could leak onto light and cause it to blow/trip
