I started to clear out a garage in a Victorian terrace today and have found large sheets placed on the floor to even it out. It’s about 7mm thick and hessian backed. It’s difficult to say what the surface is made of, possibly vinyl or more of a hardboard surface. The internal area is where my concern for asbestos is as this is quite crumbly but could easily be a type of plaster.
It’s slighly bendy but snaps under pressure. Has anyone come across this type of floor before, and thoughts on an asbestos risk? Cheers
Hi sandman99 It looks like a very old linoleum sheet and yes is likely to have asbestos in it. Get a small sample and get it tested before you do any more. Regards S
