New to this forum and looking forward to being part of it. Sorry in advance if the answer to this has been posted elsewhere - I couldn't see it. My partner and I just bought our first flat and we're delighted but also inexperienced in the ways of decoration, so I hope you'll forgive the basic nature of this question. We want to re-paint the walls but have found some examples of flaking paint (see pictures below) revealing layers of paint below. What would people advise we do about this (i.e before re-painting)?
Hi john_o_diy You will have to scrap off all loose paint, fill the edges left and then sand down until you get a stable keyed surface. You can then paint with the appropriate paint starting with a primer if needed. Regards S
