Hi wodehouse Could be as simple as the screws in the top hinge are working loose or the hinge is worn. Doors do change with changes of humidity and temperature so if you need to adjust the fit of the door and there is a gap on the hinge side it is easiest to sink the hinges deeper in the frame.
