Wiring in kitchen strip lights

by Jeff1886 » Fri Oct 19, 2007 11:01 am

Hi
I have 3 strip lights to wire into my new kitchen and i'am have some thoughts about it. Two of the three points have a single cable and a looped cable the other point has only a looped cable, the cable looks like the standard 3 ply grey lighting cable.
1 is there a problem that one point has only a loop cable
2 do i wire these up just a a normal light ceilling rose i.e

live terminal 1 from the switch and 1 from either side of the loop

neutral terminal 1 from the light and 1 from either side of the loop

switch live 1 from the switch and one from the light.

eatrh terminal one from each loop and ane from the switch

How do i wire up the the point that only has the loop

can u look at doc projects on part p.
this work is affected by the part p notification process.
a kitchen is known as a special location , because of the presence of water it can be an area if increased shock risk.
for this reason the part p proceedure insists on notification
to allow an experiened electrician to carry out the work rather
than allowing the diy person to attempt ot.
obviously the diy person or owner can or sometimes does attempt the work himself , and i can only advise and leave u 2 decide.
your part p sparky would b the best choice 4 me.
