Wooden Handrail Replacement and Attachment

by Jrae85 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 1:21 pm

Hi, Iv got a 2.5m wooden stair hand rail that I want to replace. It is currently attached to the wall via 2 fittings. However the wall stops about 0.5 short of the top end, meaning there is no wall for another fitting. The previous owner has simply screwed threw the top end of the handrail and into one of the landing spindles to secure it.

I dont want to do the same when I replace it. Is there any other way I could secure the top 0.5 of the hand rail?
