Worcester Bosch Greenstar Boiler Pressure in red

Post by tyke » Thu Jan 23, 2020 1:41 pm

My boiler was losing pressure and needed topping up each day. I was hoping it wld keep going until weather improved (we are aged 80+). As of this morning the boiler has increased its pressure and is now switched off but has remained high and is close to the red signal on the display. We dare not put the heating on. Why has it gone from one extreme to the other and is it dangerous to use it.

I think the boiler will have a pressure releaf valve, and likely problem is fault expansion vessel, some times the pressure has simply leaked out but more likely the diagram has a hole in it, since inside the boiler person correcting has to be gas safe, and so as an electrician I have not worked on integral expansion vessels, only the external ones, which you could often keep things going by blowing up with a bike pump.
