Worcester combi - digitat not talking

Postby burt12345 » Fri Dec 03, 2021 7:12 pm

Hello, could anyone advise please. I think I’ve worked out why either rads are either not coming on, or it’s really hot - the thermostat doesn’t seem to be talking to boiler properly.

I’ve got new alkaline batteries in the digitstat and the boiler is flashing ch and the radio symbol too, if I turn the boiler off and on, I can get the two talking by press +/- on the stat, but after a while they lose each other.

Do I need a new thermostat and can I buy any make or does it have to be a certain radio freq? Are these prone to fail - must be about 10 years old. Or could it be something else?

One other consideration is that we have 2 X 2 port zone valve which are both open as we’ve not yet wired up an ufh system in our basement (it’s all operating of the one stat at the mo), and therefore wondering if whatever I buy needs to have that in mind so we can enable the two zones.

The whole thermostat thing befuddles me but that might because it’s actually really simple to wire up, as some of these smart devices like Netatmo/Nest etc seem to suggest anyone can set them up. So perhaps I’m missing the obvious!!
