Working out the total amount for dead load, imposed load and wind load

by shirley1964 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:12 pm

Hi I hope u can help me , we are currently constructing a timber frame extension and we are working at the moment to a building notice . we need calculations for the base and I have read on your site about the dead load, imposed load ,and wind load , our total structure is 52 sq meters in floor space and we are constructing on 600mm strip foundations i cannot work out the total amount for each of these loads as it comes above 30 kn for the single dwelling am I doing it wrong by multiplying 52 sq mtrs x 1.kn for wind load, and 1.5 kn x 52 for imposed load ? I have not attempted the dead load yet as i am still awaiting the weight of the structure from the timber frame company.

Many thanks
Shirley
