Worn out tap handle/spindle

by siwilks » Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:11 pm

Hi,

We've got a Carron Phoenix Victoria mixer tap, and the hot tap seems to have worn out. The ground bits on both the handle and the spindle seem quite smooth and the handle has started moving fairly freely on the spindle. Will I need to replace the whole cartridge (in addition to the handle) and do people know of any suppliers of spares for Carron?

Thank you!

Modern versions of this tap have ceramic discs. If the splining is worn out on both the cartridge and the tap handle yes you'll need to replace both. Even if it had conventional tap head gear it would not be cost effective to try and repair the head gear and fit a new tap handle.

Cheers
