2.5mm instead of 1.5mm

Can anybody tell me if its possible i can use a load of 2.5mm i have spare instead of 1 or 1.5mm for additional downlighters in the bedroom please?

you can but you will have problem getting them into the cable clamps which MUST clamp on the outer sheath not just the cores of the cables,
