Access between kitchens and living rooms

Hi

Are you aware of any new or upcoming regulations relating to access doors between living rooms and kitchens? We are planning to sell our home and have an open access kitchen and living area. However, someone has suggested that as it is likely to be bought by an investor to rent out to students and there needs to be a fire door between the kitchen and living room to comply with new regulations.
