Brick Re-Pointing Sand / Cement Quantity Required and do I Need Plastisizer?

Post by djvc2711 » Wed Jun 18, 2014 3:45 pm

Hi, new to this forum so hope I have got the jist of it. I have approx 45m2 of accrington brick to repoint. Mortar joints are approx 10mm. Will be scraping out to approx 10mm depth. Can somebody please advise the quantity of sand/cement required and should I add a plastisizer. Many thanks Dave

to repoint the brickwork its best to try and match the mortar mix, so it dries the same, start with a mix of 4.1.1 sand, cement, lime and see how it dries, if its darker then add more cement, if its lighter add more lime, no plasticiser needed, as the lime will replace the need for it.
