Building an External Chimney

by Nikos72 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:57 pm

Hello,
I'm interested in an external chimney breast being constructed. I have a detatched house and plenty of room for a breast to be built externally. Does anyone know if planning persmission is needed, a rough cost for construction, and most importantly, is this something general builders can undertake, or is it a specialist job? I've scoured the net for 'Chimney Builders' etc, but can find nothing that fits the bill. Theres a wealth of info for breast removal, but nothing for building!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

before deciding to get a chimney breast built, consider what you are building it for.

You can now get false chimneys that you can use to vent up to class 1 appliances through so can get the external effect of a chimney, and route through with a flue, whcih may be a cheaper option than having a full chimney breast built but with the effect you require

they come mostly ready to crane into place, done in a brick of your choice.

if you want any more info let me know and i can point you in a direction to learn more.
