Ceiling Fan - 3 into 4 won't go?

by Uncle Spike » Mon Aug 13, 2007 11:15 am

I've just bought a new ceiling fan with light but I'm stumped by the inadequate wiring diagram supplied. There are three cables protruding from my ceiling: green, red & black. The new fan has a block of four terminals on it marked
Earth - Yellow/Green
Live - Red (Light)
Neutral - Blue
Live - Brown (Fan).
Would it be safe to attach both lives to the same terminal? I can't see how else I can supply power to both the fan and the light otherwise.
