Close coupled toilet does not fill up enough

Post by the_robbo » Sun Apr 12, 2009 12:03 pm

Hi,

I have recently had a new close coupled toilet fitted with a push button flush. Whilst it does flush and fill up without any problems, it only fills up half way so there is not enough water in the cistern to flush anything away.

I have identified the float mechanism but I cannot tell how to adjust the height to allow more water in to the cistern.

Any advice would be greatly received.

There'll be a way of adjusting it - either find the instructions for the cistern or get the plumber who installed it back to rectify the problem.

"I have identified the float mechanism but I cannot tell how to adjust the height to allow more water in to the cistern."

There will probably be a vertical screw adjuster which moves the float up and down. Bear in mind that if you have replaced an older style 11 litre cistern with a new one current regs require a flushing cistern to contain no more than 6 litres - saving the planet doncha know!!

As HE says check the MIs or get the guy back that fitted it.

Cheers
