concrete rafts

Post by pete m » Sun May 20, 2007 11:09 am

hello everybody this is my first post great site can learn loads spot on.
I build concrete prefab garages and sheds for a living, these are built on rafts usually 3-4inches deep, the builbing weighs approx2-3tonnes (no problems). My question is can a raft be used instead of traditional type footings to build a conservatory,as i see it a lot less weight will be going on the slab as apposed to a garage.thanks in advice for any replies. :?

Can be done using a ring beam round the peremeter of the raft usually Pete but a good idea to get advice from your local building inspector as the ground conditions play a big part.
