Conservatory wiring

Post by Philphog » Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:18 am

I plan to extend living room ring main to include new conservatory where there will be three 2 gang sockets. I also plan to install two wall lights fed from new 13 amp socket through a switched SP 5 amp fused connection unit. 2.5mm wire to FCU and 1.5mm from FCU to lights. I have a couple of questions :
1. Can I wire direct from socket to FCU and then to lights and use the switched FCU as the light switch.
2. Can I run ring main cable along bottom of wall at floor level, secured with cable clips or do I need to use conduit.

Hi, 1) yes!
2) you could but it would look cr^p!
why not get some small skirting trunking, quite inexpensive from various 'sheds', this is considered a 'safe zone' as long as you go vertically up from trunking to outlets.

Thanks Sparx for your response.

Regarding 2) I should have said cable would be hidden from view in void between plasterboard and brick however I'll follow your advice and use trunking.
