Decking attached to an house wall

Postby Robert Beggs » Sat Jun 21, 2008 10:23 am

Is there ever a situation where decking can be attached to an outside cavity wall above a basement and above the damproof course, using any new modern method of attachment, which would prevent the DPC being compromised? I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible. Robbie

Yes there is, attach a wall plate say 4 x 3 inch timber using sleeve or resin anchors. Hope this helps.

Leave at least a 10mm gap between the wall and the joist by packing out with washers and you should be fine.
