Earth in dishwasher plug burned through

    Postby boycy » Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:12 pm

    Hi all,

Dishwasher stopped working - checked the plug and fuse is fine, hasn't blown, but the earth wire looks like it burned off at the terminal. Doesn't look like it was well-connected in the first place though, not much left inside the terminal housing.
Just wondering - would it be safe to rewire the plug straight off or might it be risky if the earth already burned through without the fuse going?

    Cheers in advance,
    Rob

Under normal use no current flows though the earth wire. For what you describe there must be a major fault. So no it's not safe to rewire plug. It's call an electrician time as likely there is damage to socket. Also one questions why it should happen. So really does need investigating.
