electrics wiring a cooker socket

by guitar2 » Mon Oct 20, 2008 3:42 pm

I have just replaced my old cooker switch for a new one.On switching the power back on the light on the switch stays on when switched on or off,and the oven isn,t coming on at all.
Can you tell me where i have gone wrong?.

1) Likely got load and supply swapped.
2) It has not been inspected and tested after fitting and minor works cert filled in.
If you had inspected and tested as per regulations you would have found any problems and although likely load and supply are swapped there must be some other fault as well as cooker should still work. With the amount of power on a cooker switch bad connections can easy cause fire and I would recommend you get someone in to check it not worth the risk to DIY.
