extending garage

hi all

i currently have a detached garage at the end of my drive which is approximatly 1 meter from the rear of my house im looking at extending the garage approximately halfway down the side of my house to encompass my side door giving access to the garage without going outside. i also want to split this area in half to give a workshop/garage area and a utility room for washer dryer etc. do i need planning permission for this sort of project and or planning regs?

any help or advice appreciated
