Extractor fan not Coming on Every Time Light is Switched on?

by cslogg » Sun Nov 19, 2017 11:22 am

My bathroom ceiling fan should come on with the light and go off around 30secs after pulling chird. However just lately the fan only comes on every so often. The light works fine and di not know where to look to try and fix it.
Cannot seem to access it via the ceiling grill as it appears to be stuck fast.
I can get to the motor and ducting via the loft though. Can anyone give me some handy hints on what I should be looking for?

Check for a connection that is not as secure as it could be, then consider a new fan.
It is quite common with fans that have timers for the timer itself to fail, hence change the fan.

Should have a fan isolator somewhere nere to it outside the bathroom, check connections in the switch(TURN POWER OFF FIRST) have a look in the pull cord switch for loose connections.
Check connections in the light fitting.
Really need some test equipment to test circuit
