fitting a new ceiling light.

by bob1953 » Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:14 am

Hi
I've just bought a new lamp from IKEAb for my son's bedroom. It has a connector for Earth, Neutral and Live. However, I have four cables coming from the ceiling. Three are single core and black, and the fourth is dual core - one red and one green. I have tried connecting the Red to Live, Green to Earth, and the three black to Neutal, but to no avail.
My son's bedroom has a ceiling pull-switch (which I don't think has ever worked), and a normal one-way light switch. The light upstairs now also don't work (so they must be on the same loop?).
Can anyone help?[/list]

See the projects section as advised, replacing a light fitting.
