fixing Ikea cupboards to wall

Post by Ana Brady » Tue Feb 08, 2011 5:01 pm

WE're trying to fix Ikea Besta cupboards to an internal breezeblock wall (plastered + in good condition), cupboards measure W 120 x D 40 x H 60cm.
They come w plastic brackets which are secured between back panel and recess at the back + screw into the side panel. Then you drill through the back panel to fit your fixing through panel and bracket.
Has anyone used them and found them safe/unsafe??

ALso what screws would people recommend?
8x75mm 'thunderbolt' screws as suggested by my local DIY shop or rawlplugs w 10x100mm screws?

Thanks for any ideas

Ana Brady,
The brackets work OK but if you are joining wall units I suggest you fit a level batten under the units to make sure they all line up.
Use wood screws with wall plugs for fixing, 6x70mm should be long enough.
end
