Foundations for a Conservatory
hi doctor, we have a bungelow & at the back has a concrete foundation which is approx 180mm thick solid just above ground level by 4m sq, we would like to put a low wall (timbered) with a upvc conservatory on top staying within the regs 3m x3m the ground is tough clay. will this be ok to bulid on top regards buzzlee
That will be fine.
May I suggest, that you consider the water that will accumulate on the existing base, does is run away? Does it pond? You do not want water running into the conservatory under the walls. I suggest that you kill two birds, why not cover the base of the conservatory with four inch thick polystyrene and top that with a three inch concrete pad, this will raise the floor, and provide some insulation for your feet
