Hanging heavy curtain on double glazed window

by mexicano » Sun Jul 08, 2007 5:41 am

My bedroom bay windows are being replaced with double glazing next week and I was wondering how do I re-hang the heavy curtains? At the moment they hang from a plastic track that is screwed into the wooden frame but will I be able able to screw into the plastic?
Please advise me how to get around this little problem. :(

I think you would have a few options. Most peolpe assume that upvc windows are made from plastic, but there usually plastic coated around metal. So an option would be to replace your plastic curtain track as it was by screwing it into your new window frame. Obviously i would do this carefully so as not to damage your new windows. Speak to you window supplier first. A better option would be to secure wooden battons to the ceiling around your bay window and attached the curtain track to this. Once the batton is painted with the curtains hanging on it you wont notice its there. hope this advice helps.
