hi im a disaster when it comes to electrics, yet i still do it.... I am trying to fit a ceiling light and fan, but, i have 2 red 1 black 1 blue 1 yellow and 2 earths. i have tried all sorts of combinations but i can get nothing to work not even the light please help this useless fool, im getting a right ear bashing from the guvnr.

Hi, dear Dr De'Ath, (i'm super suspicious!!)
where do you have these wires? if at light then would need to know
1) was there a fan/light there before,
2) what wire colours are there at sw,
3) how many sw's 1 or 2
If you have these at your fan/light position most likely set up is blk is Neutral for both fan and light, red from twin goes with red from 3 core in spare term block, yel & blu are sw. L's back one for fan L & the other to light L. If this is so u should have at 2 gang sw. red looped to both sw.'s and yel. & blu. one in each sw. L1 term
if not like this then 'tell it like it is'
