Hinge Bolts Breaking Out of Brickmount Mount Points

by jaybray » Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:50 pm

Looking for a quick bit of advice.

We have a garage constructed of old local bricks that match the original brickwork of our old renovated property.
The garage has large wooden doors mounted with 3 hinges spread evenly.

The mount points for the hinges are around 2/3 into the brick for the edge but the old bricks are a little crumbly an a few of the large mounting screws have burst out of the side of the bricks towards the edge.

Is there a technique or product I could use to 'cement' over the break outs and reinforce the mount points.

Normal cement attempts just burst out again after a couple of weeks.

Many thanks
Jaybray

jaybray,
Either move the fixing points to undamaged bricks or cut out the existing damaged bricks and mortar new ones in place.
