Hot plug pins

Post by Denzag » Mon Aug 20, 2007 7:31 pm

Hi All,

After using my iron for around 30 minutes, when I pull the plug from the electrical socket the plug pins are red hot. Is this a problem with the iron or the electrics?

Any ideas out there?

Hi most likely cause is loose connection in plug or loss of 'spring' in fuse contacts, also once plug gets hot it will transfer heat to socket contacts as well, leading to overheating there as well as plug.
replace plug, try in different outlets and compare heating, if only hot in one outlet then it too needs replacing
