Improving Dormer Bedroom Heat Retention and Insulation

Post by insamoufonyx » Mon Feb 26, 2018 1:14 pm

Hi all,

Im new to this forum and this is my first post, I have had a look through existing topics but I cant see this already covered.

Last august we moved home into a 1972 Semi-Detached 3/4bed house, the upper floor has dormer bedrooms and bathroom.

Over the winter we have noticed that the house as a whole has two main issues with heat:

A. The heating system isn't very effective, im slowly rectifying this by moving on from the old single un-finned radiators to new double core double fined ones which has made a notable difference.

B. The house as a whole has very poor heat retention. I figured I would start with the easiest stuff first - the insulation, which is where my question starts.

I have attached a cross sectional image of the house showing roughly what we have insulation wise. Im looking for suggestions on what to do to improve the insulation and the most appropriate products to use.

Thanks in advance.

Rob.
