There's sometimes a ring around the buttons, try to unscrew anti-clockwise.

Hi steve,

Do not touch the ring!

Gently prise up the flush buttons with the point of a sharp knife (push the tip of the knife slightly below the top of the button into the side and lift it up) remove both buttons.

In the well you should see a plastic flat screw, undo with a large screwdriver and the cap will come off.

Remove the lid.

Skids - do not touch the ring ????

I have worked on may where you have to unscrew the ring to remove the cistern lid.

So how do you suggest i remove the cistern lid from this type of cistern in future ? look forward to your reply - cos it'll have to be magic.
