Lighting Cicuit Doesnt work

by steveherts » Sat Aug 04, 2007 7:13 pm

I turned on the kitchen light this morning and appear to have blown something! There was a 'pop' like a bulb blowing and the whole downstairs lighting circuit was out.

The MCB didnt trip and the other circuit running from the same MCB is still working but I am without lights in the kitchen, living and dining room!

It does appear that one of the kitchen bulbs has blown but now nothing works!

Any ideas what could have caused this failure becuase I am at a loss?

If I take down the light fitting in the kitchen there is a single 3 core cable to it.

HELP!!!

NOT SURE WAT TO THINK ABOUT 2 LIGHTING CIRCUITS
OFF THE SAME MCB.?
YOUR FEEDS MUST BE IN A JOINT BOX MAYBE , BUT THE
A FAULT HAS OCCURED BETWEEN KITCHEN AND DINING
ROOM. U WOULD NEED TEST GEAR TO PERFORM
CHECKS ON CABLES.
WITH MCB STAYING ON FAULT MIGHT BE OPEN CIRCUIT.
I THINK U NEED TO GET HELP IN ON THIS ONE
DEPENDING ON AGE AND METHOD OF WIRING , FEEDS
COULD B AT SWITCH POSITION.
ISOLATE AND CHECK FOR SIGNS OF CABLE FAULT AT SWITCH.
