Lighting problem - please help ASAP

by jb7643 » Sun Jul 15, 2007 5:29 pm

Excuse me if i don't use correct terminology. I have a fitting with 2 switches in the landing - one for the hall light and 1 for the bathroom. On the back of each switch there is L1, L2 and L. I've put the red wires into L1s, the black ones into L2 and i have one wire left - a yellow one. Weirdly, whichever switch's L 'port' i put this in, it makes that switch work - so i can make the hall or bathroom light work but not both at the sametime (it's almost as if i could do with another yellow wire but there isn't one). Weirdly for me that is. Please help ASAP.

Hi, some thing not adding up here!
reds, blacks & yellow I think not!
look again , is one of those 'blks' a blue?
is the Hall light 2 way switched to somewhere else, I think so!
If so then find Red that comes from same cable as Blk, put that R into L(Com), put Blk into L1 opposite end of same half of sw.
that should make bathroom lt. work!
Go look in sw. at other end of 2 way system and note which colour is in its C term. (L?) put the same colour in your C (L?) term, put remaining 2 wires in L1 & L2 of same half sw. hall light should now work, regards,
