Lightswitch wiring help for bathroom lights

by thetsar » Wed Mar 26, 2014 2:15 pm

Need to change a switch that operates the bathroom lights.
The switch operates 2 sets of lights (downlights and main lights) and a fan which goes on when the switch for the main lights is on.

The wiring to the existing switch has red, yellow and blue wires going to the switch and an earth wire tucked into the sleeved wires - see picture

The new switch I bought looks like -

Anyone know how to connect the wires to the new switch. And is it correct/safe that the earth wire is not connected??

Hi
Exactly as the existing switch. Look carefully, it's arranged as the new one, but reversed on one side. So red to common, with link to other common. Blue to L1 on first switch, yellow to L1 one the other.
The earth is not needed, so just keep it tucked safely out the way.
I trust this switch is outside the bathroom.

proptech is correct. The coms on new switch are both on the same side of switch. If switch works wrong way around i.e. down on off then swap L1 to L2.
