Thank you for your replies on my last question. I have looked deeper into my problem and the hot water works OK, but the central heating is affected. Any ideas please.
(Problem was boiler only fires with case off)

This sounds like differant problem , check your valves in the airing cupboard, make sure they are motoring

Get a heating engineer to take a look, when the boiler only fires up with the case removed this points to flue, fan, sensing tubes or seal faults.

I've had this problem before on other boilers and it's normally the venturi needs cleaning - or they can melt.

Not a DIY job, as it's a fault with the flue and evacuation of products of combustion - you really need to know what you're doing.
