Need advice on removing chipboard floor.

by happyhacker » Fri Aug 19, 2011 8:13 pm

I am replacing my chipboard floor in the hall with T&G. It's a 70's house and the board goes under the skirting and next to the understairs cupboard it goes under the stud wall there. So I cannot just ease the boarding up and I also have to remove the brads which I'm doing by drilling at the side of them and levering them out (using the old boards in the loft so don't want them destroyed).

So, how do I cut the boards close to the skirting without damage so I can offer the new T&G close to it.

Is there a tool which will cut close to the skirting all the way through the 19mm chipboard? Otherwise I've got to fumble with a hans saw!

happyhacker,
The fein multimaster or similar tool will do what you want.
