Out Door Post Light Wiring

by gpincik » Tue Sep 09, 2008 4:34 am

How do you wire a outdoor pole light. I have conduit 12 inches in the ground up to the light. Do I run the conduit up the outside of the pole to ground level then drill a hole in the pole. I am trying to keep it water tight because I have wire nuts inside the conduit Thanks

I have always used SWA. Never found conduit water tight how ever hard you try. 522.8.10 talks about conduit and ducts but I do not think it means outside for conduit under a concrete floor maybe? and the 544 comes in with minimum cross sectional area so can't use thin wall. Plus the problems with any movement.
Does it really need to be conduit?
