Plug on an outside cable?

I use to have 2 pond pump cables coming through my conservatory window and plugged in. I have now had an outdoor socket for these fitted and the electricain cut the pump cables to length and fitted them inside the outdoor switch box. The cable has been connected up outside and ran to the socket inside the house but the electrician didnt connect this up as a new spur and is now on a fortnights paternity leave. As I need my pumps working ASAP and cnat afford another electrician can i put a plug on the end of the cable until the original electrician returns to complete the job?

is this circuit RCD protected?

yes, the outdoor pond socket has a built in rcd.

Does the circuit have an RCD on it, not the outside-socket as this is down load and i'd be concerned over the cable leading to this socket not having RCD protection
Why did he not connect up, was there a good reason not to?
I'd consider calling your electrician and asking him if you can, as a short term fix using an RCD adaptor at the internal socket.
