Ring Main

by Wellsy » Sun Sep 20, 2009 9:42 am

Hi
I am converting an outhouse to a Gym where I need to add Lighting and a few Sockets.
If I run a single spur from the Main Consumer unit to a fuse box in the Gym can I then run a ring main from this box around the room.
Advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Wellsy

Hi,

your part-P registered leckie can run what we call a 'sub-main' from a spare way in your consumer unit to a local sub board, a 2 way consumer unit known as a 'garage unit' is available with circuit breakers for lighting and power all ready fitted, & N& E blocks inside.
As the outhouse is seperate from main house & all new circuits are reportable to building control anyway you should see 'projects-electrical-part-p requirements' before starting
