I was hoping someone could educate me about septic tank preventive maintenance. I have owned my home since 1989 when it was built. I have never had to have the tank pumped and I hope to never have to. A few years or so back I started to use "Ridex". I tried to used 1 box a month but was not always able to. I have been told that "Yeast" can be used instead. So, I have been using Yeast for the past 6 months, pouring in a little packet about once a week. My question is, can yeast be used in place of Ridex? and if so how much and how often?
