Shiplap Shed Protection Using Cuprinol - Will This be Adequate?

Post by jaydee456 » Sun Jun 08, 2014 3:54 pm

HI We are about to get a new ship-lap garden shed.(Not dipped)
We have just found out that Cuprinoil which we used on our old one is now a wood protector not preserver. Will this be adequate to look after the shed long term.

If not any recommendations ?

Many thanks
Jean

Hi jaydee456

I know just what you mean. These days most wood treatments are water based, so there's not the penetration that the spirit based materials used to provide.
The alternative would be to use a product like Sadolin Extra Durable. This is solvent based, penetrates, and provides an almost varnished appearance. I've a shed treated with it, 15 years now, and still OK.
