SIDE CONSERVATORY

Post by schollanna » Fri Apr 01, 2011 8:15 pm

We are wanting to put up a side of house conservatory. We are happy that we don't need planning except for one point:
No extension forward of the principal elevation or side elevation fronting a highway.

I gather this means that any conservatory on the front or side of a house that will be closer to a public highway than the original house will need planning permission. A highway is any public right of way including footpaths.

Our back garden and back of the house does back onto a path (approx 10m) but we want the conservatory to go on the side of the house where it will remain flush to the front of house. It won't be any nearer to the road than the house.

Are we ok on this point? or should we go for planning, thanks schollanna

schollanna,
Draw a dimensioned plan and check with your local planning department.
