skirting coming away from the wall

by arshad » Tue Jul 21, 2009 12:05 pm

Hi

Need some advice re - skirting boards

was hoping somebody could help me explain what is happening with the skirting in one of my bedrooms. I had skirting fitted about 6 month ago after the walls were re- skimmed. Recently it appears that the skirting is coming off from the walls and i cant seem to push the skirting back. the skirting was screwed into the walls.

It almost seems as though the walls have expanded pushing the skirting out.

any help as to why this is happened and what I can do about it would be most welcome.

Mnay thanks

Arshad  :?:

How long were the walls plastered before the skirting was screwed on?

the chances are that the screws weren't screwed into studs in the wall or are screwed into a joint in the block work. When the timber is moving (growing and shrinking) it maybe working its way off the wall
