temporary floor over screed - what would you choose?

Hello
We've moved into a new place with a hideous and smelly carpet. It needs to be ripped out asap.
Underneath is screed...

What can we do as a temporary solution to seal or cover it while we decide on carpet/other floor covering?
It's a bedroom and hallway.

PVA sealant?

Rugs?

If only temporary until its re-carpeted then you don't really need to do anything. Personal choice.
