Three way light switches.

by vwhizz » Sat Jul 14, 2007 8:51 am

:?: My kitchen lights are on 3 way switching and the electrician who wired our new extension has connected the live wires in an intermediate switch to a plastic connector with the blue and yellow running thru the switch. Is this correct. Also,I am changing the fronts to iridium black metal facings, back plates being dry liners. Is there any way that I can use a 1 gang 2 way switch as an intermediate. I thought maybe the plastic connector method as the electrician has done with the live wires????????

Hi , No is the short answer as an intermediate sw. needs all four connections to work, I presume you cant buy int. sw in your chosen finish?
I think from what you say you have a 3 core & E. wire with the red connected through in a block and the yel/blu going to the terms, thats the only way see 'projects' wiring lights to see why. regards SPARX
