tile adhesive removal from bricks

by arianone » Sat Jul 23, 2011 5:32 pm

I wonder if some one can help, I have been trying to find out how to remove tile adhesive from exterior brickwork. The previuos owner to my property decided in his infinite wisdom to face the bottom 500mm of the front of the house with fake stone...nice

So I have remove the concrete / stone fake stone slips and to my horror he has used in certain areas what looks to me like ceramic tile adhesive.
I have tried scraping, heat, cement acid etc and it does not move.

does anyone have any ideas of what may work?

Not going to be an easy one. I would personally render this 500mm to cover the mess. You could also face the render with roofing slate to give a different finish. Make sure you don't bridge a damp proof line.
