Toilet Cistern Tank is not refilling

by matt7575 » Tue Nov 13, 2007 12:56 pm

Can anyone help. My toilet cistern tank isn't filling. There is no problem with any water pressure and it still flushes fine when you manually fill it. What seems to be the problem? Is it the ball cock or something else?
Oh, and it's a push button flush system.

Check that the float moves up and down freely and is not fouling the sides of the tank. IF it free, the most likely problem is debris has got into the valve and blocked it.

Turn the water off, and dismantle it from within the cistern. It should be a fairly simple process. There are so many different types, so it is difficult to explain exactly how.

or the valve is stuck

when the ballcock raises, it presses against the valve which shuts it off. if this is stuck, the toilet thinks the ball valve is up all the time, hence does not fill.
