Tying in old and new walls, How ?
We have an existing old house( to be gutted and completely refurbished) and and are adding an extension to it. the old building is built of rubble and granite(its 120 years old) the extension will need to be tied into the old building at a gable end. What kind of fixings should we be using ?
You will need a wall tie pack shown in the link below. The wide strip is screwed to the wall and the ties are simply slotted in to it at the brickwork joints. Its an accepted method of tying in and well within building regulations.
