Underlay needed with laminate?

by lee0120 » Thu Nov 01, 2007 10:38 am

I am laying a laminate floor, the floor is reasonably flat, does it matter if there is no underlay underneath, and if it does matter, why? Thanks

Hi lee0120,
It depends where you are laying floor, in the main it is used to absorb sound (foot noise) But if you are laying on concrete/stone you do need to put a waterproof membrane down to stop any damp that may come from the floor.
